About Heart of America Chapter 28
Heart of America Chapter #28 is an affiliated chapter of Dance Masters of America, Inc. Chapter #28 is based in the Kansas City area. Our members share the common goals to advance the art of dancing and improve the practice of its teaching. Our parent organization, DMA is an International Educational Dance Teacher Organization which has served the dance community for more than a century.
Chapter #28 offers workshops, master classes and training sessions for both teachers and students in addition to scholarship auditions and competitions.
Chapter #28 also sponsors dance competitions throughout the year that are qualification competitions for the National DMA Competition held every summer in glorious resorts and hotels around the country, such as Orlando, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, and more…
What We Do
Chapter #28 holds a fall convention. We bring in outstanding faculty to teach workshops for the students and teachers in the disciplines of tap, jazz, and ballet. We also hold our Solo Titled Competition and our Scholarship Auditions at this convention.
We also hold an early spring convention, bringing in three premier faculty members to teach students and teachers high energy classes such as; musical theatre, contemporary, modern, hip hop and more.
In conjunction with our spring convention, we hold our Performing Arts Competition. We pride ourselves in holding a true family oriented competition with qualified dance educators serving as our judges.
Non-members are welcome to attend both our conventions and register their students as well. However, non-members are not allowed to participate in our competitions and scholarship auditions.
Heart of America Chapter #28 holds 7-8 meetings per year August thru April. As a member of DMA, you will become part of a network of dance teachers who strive for excellence in the art of dance, share ideas about operating a successful dance business, teaching technique and brainstorm about our truly unique profession.
Dues are $137 annually and are due September 1st. These cover both chapter and national dues.
